Daniel William "Dan" Carter (born 5 March 1982) is a New Zealand rugby union player. He is currently the highest points scorer in test match rugby and is regarded as one of rugby's greatest ever fly-halves. Carter was born on 5 March 1982 in Southbridge, a small town in the South Island of New Zealand, to Neville and Bev Carter, and has one older sister, Sarah.
